A brayer, is a rolling tool used by printmakers. A brayer could also be a donkey braying, don't you think?
We have two donkeys, Daisy and Pedro. There's nothing like it to be greeted like this when you come home from town! They're sides heave, they snort and gurgle, run a few steps toward us then begin again....It's the neatest welcoming committee I've ever had!
I used Pedro as a model for this painting, but it hurt Robert's feelings to see Pedro portrayed in such a silly way, so I have to say, this is not Pedro braying like this, this is some generic donkey!
Pedro is dignified, gentle and kind, he'd never look like this!
